The Challenge

Why Fortification
Is Imperative

Micronutrient deficiencies remain a significant public health challenge in Bangladesh, contributing to a growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and poor population health outcomes.

Edible oil, widely consumed across all socioeconomic groups, presents a strategic vehicle for large-scale food fortification. However, the prevalence of unregulated bulk (drum) oil, inconsistent quality standards, and limited consumer awareness have hindered effectiveness.

💊Vitamin A & D deficiency affects millions of Bangladeshis across all age groups
🛢️Unregulated bulk drum oil dominates markets, bypassing fortification standards
📊Evidence shows fortified oil can reduce micronutrient deficiency by up to 40%
